Police are investigating after a 14-year-old boy reported he was robbed at gunpoint early Monday morning.
Shortly before 6 a.m., the boy was at a bus stop at the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Bowling Street SW when a male approached him, displayed a handgun and took the boy's backpack, which contained a laptop computer, police said. Police said the suspect ran south on Bowling Street SW, but was not immediately located.
The boy was not hurt and was in school later Monday morning, police said. Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said there were no known witnesses to the incident.
The suspect is described as a black male, around 5-foot-8 with a medium build wearing a hooded sweat shirt and other dark-colored clothing.
