The Gazette Journalism Fund

In Iowa, much of our economic wealth comes from the land and our natural resources.

Iowa’s climate and environment also have a major impact on our quality of life. The Gazette’s environmental journalism is crucial in informing the public, holding corporations and governments accountable as well as helping shape public opinion and public policies.

Your support of the Gazette Journalism Fund will enable us to enrich our coverage of environmental and energy topics and allow us to accomplish even more.

View some recent examples of our environmental work:

Who owns Iowa farmland?
Iowa’s annual swim warnings for bacteria highest since 2010
The discovery of a new plant at a Johnson County park was exciting, until conservationists learned more about it.

What’s unique about The Gazette?

The Gazette is proud to be one of the very few employee-owned news organizations and a trusted local independent news organization. Tracing our Cedar Rapids roots back to 1883, The Gazette is deeply rooted in public service journalism and is committed to delivering high-quality journalism.
The Gazette rigorously reports its stories and has a reputation for excellence among Iowa media organizations. We’ve also been chosen to participate in the “Report For America” program, a highly competitive program which places journalists in local newsrooms to cover underreported topics.
