A Cedar Rapids man told police he woke up to find an armed man in the doorway of his bedroom.
Officers rushed to a burglary in progress around 1 a.m. Wednesday at 135 33rd St. Dr. SE, but were unable to find the two suspects involved. No one was injured in the incident.
Police said Michael Barrow, 60, reported that he woke up to a loud noise and was confronted by a man with a handgun who told him to be quiet or he would shoot him. The suspect ordered Barrow to turn on the lights and give him cash.
Barrow told officers he pointed out a cash box, and the suspect took two of them. The suspect yelled for a second man to come help him, and he did. The two men got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
The gunman was described as a white man in his early 20s, about 5-foot-9 and 175 pounds, police said. He was wearing a dark hooded sweat shirt with the hood pulled up and dark pants. He also had something covering his face.
The second suspect was around 6 feet tall and between 200 and 225 pounds, wearing dark clothing. Barrow was unsure of the man's race.
An investigation was continuing.
