A 19-year-old man has been charged with fatally beating a Waterloo man.
Paris Anding was arrested Thursday and is being held in Black Hawk County Jail on a second-degree murder charge. Court records don't list his attorney.
Anding is accused of beating 19-year-old Marcellus Andrews.
Police say Andrews and some friends had been involved in a dispute with another group. A fight between the two groups erupted early in the morning of Aug. 19. Andrews died two days later when life support was removed.
There were initial reports that a hate crime was involved because anti-gay slurs had been made about Andrews.
But police say no slurs were mentioned by the people interviewed and that the fight was a result of "some bad blood" between the two groups.
