A Cedar Rapids man is accused of second-degree theft for retaining bank deposits from his place of work.
According to a criminal report, Johnson County deputies were asked to investigate a series of missing bank deposits from Subway at Kum & Go, 101 Village Dr. in Tiffin, totaling $3424.06. Seth A. Buns, 28, of 435 Ashton Place NE No. 59, was the restaurant manager at the time deposits failed to be received by the bank, starting Sept. 18 and running through mid-October.
Buns "willingly admitted" to taking the money and using it for his own use, investigators said, and was subsequently terminated from his position.
Second-degree theft is a Class D felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a maximum $7,500 fine.
