A 29-year-old Iowa City man allegedly chased another man down the street threatening him with a knife early Wednesday morning, police said.
Iowa City police said they responded to 1102 Hollywood Blvd., No. 7 at 12:56 a.m. after hearing reports of a fight involving a knife. According to a police report, Clifton T. Walker, of 1306 Whiting Avenue Court, broke in to a woman's residence, and upon finding her with another man, threatened him with a knife.
Police said Walker was trying retrieve some belongings from the home of the woman, who was identified as the mother of his child, when he realized the locks had been changed. He then kicked down the door to gain entry.
When Walker entered to find the woman with another man, he became angry and told him, "I got something for you," police said. He displayed a knife to the man, telling him, "I'm gonna get ya," police said, then chased the man outside and down the street while brandishing the knife.
No one was injured, but the male victim told police he feared for his safety. Walker also caused $250 worth of damage to the door, police said.
Walker is accused of going armed with intent, a Class D felony, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a serious misdemeanor.
