CEDAR RAPIDS - On Sunday, a small fire broke out around 9:00 a.m. at 2911 Long Bluff Road Northeast.
"We talked to the owner and he said there was a fire in the upstairs bedroom,” said Cedar Rapids Fire Battalion Chief George Bockenstedt.
Luckily, fire crews were able to get to the fire and put out the flames quickly.
"Once crews got the fire knocked down they opened the windows to help ventilate the smoke that was up there,” said Bockenstedt. "It was fortunate they were home at the time of the fire because it could have been a lot worse.”
Fire crews say they family will likely receive help from the Red Cross. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and there were no injuries.
