A second victim has come forward accusing a Cedar Rapids man of sexual abuse, police said.
Daniel E. Martin, 68, of 4200 Ford Ave. NW, is charged with third-degree sexual abuse in the most recent case. He is accused of committing multiple sex acts against a girl between 2005 and 2010, starting when she was 12 years old, police said.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said Martin got to know the victim through family or friends, but the victim was not related to him.
Martin was taken into custody without incident Wednesday evening at his residence. Seven weeks earlier, he was arrested and charged with second-degree sexual abuse against a different girl under the age of 12, authorities said. He has pleaded not guilty to those offenses, which prosecutors allege happened between 1994 and 1998.
Martin was taken to the Linn County Jail, where he remained Thursday in lieu of $50,000 bond. Police were continuing to investigate both cases.
"With any sexual abuse involving children, we always question whether there are more victims," Hamblin said.
If convicted on both charges, Martin faces up to 35 years in prison.
