Some nice green for Dan McCarney to coach the Mean Green

It wasn't like Dan McCarney, the former Iowa State head football coach, just grabbed any old life raft out of Florida as Urban Meyer walks away as head coach there.
McCarney did extremely well for himself in getting the North Texas Mean Green head coaching job. Much better than his predecessor at UNT, Todd Dodge.
Brett Vito of the Denton Record-Chronicle did the leg work in this blog entry for his paper. Vito wrote:
McCarney's base salary will be $475,000.
In addition to that total, he will receive a $35,000 season completion payment each year and $35,000 to appear on a radio/TV show. ...
McCarney will receive $25,000 if UNT wins the Sun Belt title and plays in a bowl game.
He would get $15,000 for taking UNT to a bowl game without winning the Sun Belt title.
There is a $10,000 incentive for being named the Sun Belt Coach of the Year and a $25,000 incentive for being named the national coach of the year.
If UNT finishes in the top 60 of the BCS standings at the end of the year, McCarney gets an extra $20,000.
If UNT meets a series of academic goals, McCarney gets an extra $5,000.
All told, McCarney will end up making $545,000 before incentives.
In the words of the great Larry David: Pretty, pretty, pretty good.
