INDIANOLA, Iowa (AP) - A weekend fire has destroyed the Iowa Department of Human Services' office in Warren County.
Department spokesman Roger Munns says effort will be made to continue to provide all services normally provided at the office in Indianola, despite Sunday's fire. Social workers will have temporary work spaces in surrounding counties, and staff members who process applications for Food Assistance and other benefit programs will report to the Des Moines office.
Munns says no pending benefits applications were lost in the fire, and social workers based in Indianola will attempt to keep all previously scheduled appointments.
The Warren County office is among 42 DHS offices that operate full time in Iowa.
