Police say Coralville man waited in woman's home, then attacked her

A woman was injured Tuesday after the 22-year-old father of her child waited in her home and attacked her when she returned for a lunch break.

Coralville police arrested Earl L. Riley Jr., 22, of 948 Boston Way No. 3 and of 2501 Holiday Rd., at 11:49 a.m. Officials said he had earlier entered the home through an unlocked door.  then came from behind her and struck her on the back of the head, knocking her to the floor.

Riley is charged with second-offense domestic abuse assault, a serious misdemeanor, and second-degree burglary, a Class C felony.

According to a crime report, Riley had no authority to be at the victim's home, and has a previous record of domestic assault from 2009.

Riley is currently being held at the Johnson County Jail on $32,500 cash bond.
