Rosenbalm, Kenneth Doyle
Kenneth Doyle Rosenbalm, 81, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at his residence following an extended illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at St. John Catholic Church in Blairstown with Father Jack McClure, C.PP.S. as celebrant. Interment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown, with graveside military rites conducted by M.J. Kirby American Legion Post 170 of Blairstown. The visitation also will be held at the church from 3 to 8 p.m. today, with a vigil service to begin at 7 p.m.
Kenneth was born in Keokuk County to Robert and Mabel (Derby) Rosenbalm. He served his nation in the U.S. Army from Feb. 12, 1953, until his honorable discharge and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany for 19 months. After returning to the states in 1953 until his retirement in 1992, he was employed at Amana Refrigeration. He also farmed his entire adult life.
On May 22, 1972, he was united in marriage to Judy Stienford Plotz at St. John Catholic Church in Blairstown. The couple traveled in all 48 states, Canada, and Mexico. A member of the Blairstown Legion Post, Ken enjoyed attending Army reunions.
In addition to his wife, Judy of Blairstown, he is survived by his stepsons, Randy (Paula) Plotz of Blairstown and Robert Plotz and special friend Dawn Berger of Blairstown; his stepgrandsons, Zachery and Dylan Plotz and Austin Plotz; his stepgranddaughter, Kyla Plotz; his sister-in-law, Evelyn Rosenbalm of Des Moines; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a stillborn sister, two half brothers, and three half sisters.
Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown is in charge of arrangements.
