A 28-year-old Iowa City man is accused of assaulting another man, breaking his leg, because the victim owed him money, authorities said.
Stevenson A. Henke, of 1507 Crosby Lane, was picked up on a warrant for assaulting a man Sept. 5 at Joe's Place, 115 Iowa Ave. in Iowa City. According to a police report, three people witnessed Henke punch the man several times, knocking him down.
The victim suffered from several small cuts and scrapes to his face, and also broke his leg, police said.
The victim told police he knew Henke from high school and that the fight was over money he owed Henke for a broken car window.
Henke is charged with assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor. He is being held at the Johnson County Jail on $5,000 cash bond.
