IOWA CITY – The Iowa City Public Library will soon offer a free computer access site in southeast Iowa City.
The library will operate a remote location out of the Police Department's substation at 1067 Highway 6 East, in Pepperwood Plaza, from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays. A library card is not required.
The service starts Oct. 4. A grand-opening event will be held at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 6.
A report released in June by two consultants concluded a branch library is not needed on the southeast side, as some people had suggested, but it found that use of the library's public-access computers by southeast side residents was high.
