Marijuana found growing in closet during Marion drug bust

Officers arrested 10 people and seized about five pounds of marijuana during a drug bust Monday at a mobile home just down the street from the Marion Police Department.

Police also confiscated around $3,000 in cash and drug paraphernalia during a search of 33 Ash Drive. The raid was part of an ongoing narcotics investigation, police said in a news release.

David D. Weaver, 23, who lives there, has been charged with several drug offenses after investigators found marijuana plants growing in a closet, according to court documents. Police said he had a high-powered grow light in the closet.

Weaver was charged with manufacturing marijuana, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, gathering where controlled substances are unlawfully used and drug tax stamp violations.

Ryan P. Lazenby, 23, of Marion, also has been charged with gathering where controlled substances are unlawfully used.

Others who were arrested but have not been formally charged, according to online court records were:

• Amy E. Showalter, 29, of Cedar Rapids, arrested on suspicion of delivery of marijuana and disorderly house.
• Christopher B. Fischer, 21, of Marion, arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly house.
• Roy W. England, 25, of Marion, arrested on suspicion of gathering where controlled substances are unlawfully used and disorderly house.
• Brian D. Parcel, 27, of Marion, arrested for an intrastate warrant and on suspicion of disorderly house.
• Derek J. Gearhart, 20, of Marion, arrested on suspicion of disorderly house.
• Zachary M. Russell, 22, of Marion, arrested on suspicion of disorderly house.
• Johann F. Kammerer, 31, of Marion, arrested on suspicion of interference with official acts.
• Heather R. Ottaway, 25, of Marion, arrested on suspicion of interference with official acts.
