A Coralville parent has become the latest person to declare his candidacy for the Iowa City school board
Chris Lynch, 45, of 755 Forest Edge Dr., has served on several school district committees in recent years. He also was a leading member of the successful One District YES committee supporting a new revenue purpose statement, which voters approved this February to make up to $100 million available to the district for construction projects.
Former school board member Don Jackson said in a news release that Lynch has the skills to help the district develop and implement a comprehensive plan. The growing school district is in the middle of devising a long-term facilities plan to serve as a guide for future projects.

“It is time for the district to move forward together,” Jackson said. “We need leaders like Chris who has the skills and commitment to work through the issues and get the district moving in a direction that benefits all of our children.
Jackson is a retired executive at Procter & Gamble. Lynch is an operations manager at the company's Oral Care Site in Iowa City. He said he is about to become the site quality manager.
Lynch and his wife, Sheri, have two children attending West High School.
Three board seats are available in the Sept. 10 election. Incumbent Karla Cook and challenger Jason Lewis have already declared their candidacies.
