Fitness-oriented boxing gym Title Boxing Club opens in Cedar Rapids

The fitness-focused Title Boxing Club has opened a Cedar Rapids gym.

The Title Boxing Club location at 5313 N. Park Place NE is owned by Glenda Marsh and Cyndi Mikkola. She plans to open two more locations in Marion and Waterloo over the next few years.

A Title Boxing Gym also opened recently in Iowa City's Sycamore Mall with different ownership.

The concept features a 60-minute interval based workout program that combines intense cardio and boxing exercises with short periods of rest. March said women ages 30-45 are the largest demographic group participating in the concept.

Trained instructors lead the group classes with musical accompaniment. Some of them focus on upper body training, while others incorporate more cardiovascular exercises.

Marsh said the guaranteed results of the 60-minute workout and the nonthreatening environment are a big part of the appeal to women.

The Cedar Rapids club plans to be a long-term supporter of

Girls on the Run and the University of Iowa Children's Hospital Foundation, as well as other local groups.
