Vilsack prays for rain, gets angry secular humanists instead

Our former governor and current U.S. Secretary of Agriculture is taking some heat for praying for rain. From BuzzFeed:

The Council for Secular Humanism is attacking the Obama administration for Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack saying he prays for rain to end the nationwide draught.

I get on my knees every day, Vilsack said at the White House press briefing on Wednesday. And Im saying an extra prayer now. If I had a rain prayer or a rain dance I could do, I would do it.

In a statement, Tom Flynn, the executive director of the Council for Secular Humanism, said Vilsack's mention of prayer "sends the wrong message to distraught farmers."

Flynn says the secretary is "wallowing in superstition." Not a bad band name. Dibs.

I'm not familiar the Council on Secular Humanism, although I'm betting their annual convention is a real hoot.

If I ever attend, I could check out the panel discussion entitled, "How to Look Utterly Ridiculous Picking Silly Fights So That No One Will Listen to Anything We Say When a Truly Significant Issue Comes Up."

Also, I've seen Vilsack dance, so I hope it doesn't come to that. Americans for Rhythm is on alert.(h/t God, Politics and Rock n Roll)
