Mediacom will carry Iowa-ISU game across Iowa

Sep. 1, 2011 3:30 pm
Mediacom announced today that its customers throughout the state can tune in to watch the live action of the Iowa vs. Iowa State football game on September 10, even in areas where FOX Sports is not the regional sports network carried on Mediacom's lineup.
The high-interest, intrastate rivalry will be played in Ames, with FOX Sports (FS) scheduled to televise the game on its regional channels, FS Midwest, FS North, and FS Wisconsin. Those sports channels are available in high-definition (HD) and standard definition (SD) to Mediacom customers of living in approximately half of the company's Iowa service areas, including Des Moines and central Iowa, southwest Iowa, northern and northwest Iowa.
Mediacom is providing two alternative channel options for its customers in Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, the Quad Cities, Ottumwa and other areas of eastern Iowa where Comcast Sports is carried as the regional sports network instead of FOX. In those areas, a new “Plus” channel recently was added to Mediacom's lineup as a way to televise a greater volume of live sports competition that occurs during the same time as other sports coverage on the primary Comcast Sports Network. The new Mediacom channel is Comcast Sports Plus, located at channel 127 and transmitted in digital reception.

The Iowa vs. ISU game also will be shown on Mediacom's own basic channel, MC22, in those same areas that receive the new Plus channel from Comcast Sports. The MC22 channel option was added to cover any potential gaps among customers that are in various phases of a transition to all-digital cable television lineups, including the addition of Comcast Sports Plus.
The Iowa vs. Iowa State game will be played at Iowa State's Jack Trice Stadium in Ames at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 10. A summary of Mediacom's channel-viewing options is listed below.
