Trial reset for Cedar Rapids man accused of kidnapping, rape

A trial was reset Thursday for a Cedar Rapids man accused of kidnapping and raping a his ex-girlfriend to Nov. 7 in Linn County District Court.
William Roby, 51, charged with first-degree kidnapping, is accused of forcing a 62-year-old woman into his apartment May 15 and sexually assaulting her for nearly 10 hours, according to search warrant.
While being held captive, Roby threatened to kill the woman's cat if she didn't follow his orders and also threatened to kill her and himself if police showed up, according to the warrant.

Roby pleaded not guilty and remains free on bond pending his trial.
A pre-trial conference also was set 1:30 p.m. Feb. 24.
