Mississippi running high in Dubuque; flood gates closed

The Mississippi River in Dubuque is cresting as of Tuesday morning.

Flood stage in Dubuque is 17 feet. The river is currently 23.7 feet as rain continues to fall in that area.

Parts of the Gazebo in Dubuque’s River’s Edge Plaza are underwater, and all of the flood gates are now closed.

The Mystique Ice Arena sits at the lowest spot on Chaplin Schmitt Island. The City of Dubuque has HESCO barriers on standby to protect the arena if the river gets any higher.Due to the rapid rainfall, the river is expected to remain at 23.7 for the next few days.
