CBI party in Iowa City on hold

Iowa may have received an inquiry from the Gazelle Group about playing in its postseason College Basketball Invitational men's basketball tournament, but if Hawkeyes go to the party it won't be at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Steve Roe, Iowa's associate sports information director, said Monday the school "will entertain any invitation for post-season play, but due to construction at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, Iowa will not be able to host any post-season events."

Iowa (10-18) hasn't played in the postseason since 2006. Iowa Coach Fran McCaffery said last week he'd be interested in competing in the CBI.

"I think anytime you have a chance to play in the postseason I would be interested," he said.
