College football: Coach was 51-25 in 7 years at Washington

MENOMONIE, Wis. — Former Cedar Rapids Washington football coach Tony Lombardi has been hired as a defensive-backs coach at The University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Lombardi coached at Washington from 2006 through 2012 before resigning under pressure amid accusations of bullying players. He posted a 51-25 record at Washington, reaching the Class 4A semifinals in 2008.

The oldest of Lombardi’s five children, Rocky Lombardi is a senior quarterback at West Des Moines Valley and has orally committed to play at Michigan State,

UW-Stout (3-7 in 2015) opens the season Sept. 3 at home against Simpson.
