Cedar Rapids RoughRiders alumni in college hockey

CEDAR RAPIDS — A total of 51 former Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have played college hockey games so far this season.

The Riders graduates are at a variety of schools. Four are at Notre Dame, which is the most: sophomore forward Cal Burke, junior forward Joe Wegwerth, senior forward Andrew Oglevie and senior defenseman Justin Wade.

Northeastern, Western Michigan, St. Cloud State and Michigan Tech each have three former Cedar Rapids players.

The highest-scorer thus far in the early going is Northeastern junior forward Adam Gaudette. The Vancouver Canucks draft pick has six goals and seven assists (13 points) in just eight games.

Western Michigan sophomore forward Hugh McGing has put up 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in nine games. Senior defenseman Mark Auk has 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in 11 games for Michigan Tech, with fellow rearguard Mitch Reinke, a sophomore, has added a goal and eight assists in 11 games.

Danny Tirone has been the most successful former Riders goaltender so far. He has a 6-1-1 record, 1.98 goals against average and .936 save percentage as a senior at New Hampshire.
