CEDAR RAPIDS — Chase Blackmun of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders has been named United States Hockey League Defenseman of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Blackmun had three assists to help the Riders to a pair of wins this past weekend: 4-2 over Lincoln and 5-3 over Central Illinois. He also had a plus-minus rating of plus-one.
The 18-year-old from Hudson, Wis., has three assists in five games this season. He was a second-round pick of Cedar Rapids in the 2017 USHL Draft, Phase II.
Blackmun has committed to play college hockey at Massachusetts-Lowell. The RoughRiders play a pair of road games this weekend against the United States National Team Development Program’s U16 and U17 teams.
