No. 7 Texas ended the season for Iowa State, 81-69, on Saturday in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Tournament at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.

Bridget Carleton and Emily Durr both had 25 points for Iowa State (14-17).

“Texas is a great team,” Carleton said. “They’re all amazing athletes and I think that’s where they have some advantage over us.”

Texas shot 55 percent (32 of 58) including 9-of-16 from 3-point range.

Ariel Atkins had 25 points, hitting 5 of 6 3-pointers, and Jatarie White added 18 points for Texas (25-5).

It was the last game for Durr and Alexa Middleton, plus fourth-year junior Claire Ricketts.

“I told the players sometimes we’re only evaluated on wins and losses,” ISU Coach Bill Fennelly said. “The record is my record, it’s not their record; and not going to the tournament is my fault, it’s not their fault.”
