The Iowa State women’s basketball team earned another game at the Big 12 Tournament, and did it without tiring out its starters.

The seventh-seeded Cyclones throttled No. 10 seed Texas Tech, 74-49, in the opening round of the tournament Friday night.

Iowa State (14-16) faces No. 2 seed Texas (24-5) at 6 p.m. Saturday (Fox Sports Net) at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.

ISU lost to Texas just a week ago, 72-59, in Ames.

Friday, no starter played more than 31 minutes. Bridget Carleton finished with 24 points, hitting 12 of 13 from the foul line. Madison Wise had 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Emily Durr added 15 points for ISU.

Jada Terry had 12 points to lead Texas Tech (7-23).

Durr and Johnson hit 3-pointers during an 8-0 run in the first quarter for Iowa State. The Cyclones led 19-5 after one quarter.
