CEDAR RAPIDS — Treynor and Grand View Christian are your final No. 1s of the boys’ basketball season in the lower two classes.

The Gazette’s weekly rankings find the Cardinals and Thunder atop Class 2A and 1A, respectively. Treynor (21-0) vaults from third, after Cascade and Van Meter (last week’s 1-2) both lost.

Cascade (20-1) drops from first to second, Van Meter (20-1) from second to third. Western Christian (19-2) remains fourth, even though it lost last week, to Sioux Falls (S.D.) Christian.

The 1A and 2A postseason begins Monday night.

Grand View Christian (18-1) also lost for the first time last week, 67-66, to a good 2A Carroll Kuemper team. That and a tough overall schedule that included 3A schools keeps the Thunder at the top.

North Linn (22-0) is second, followed by Remsen St. Mary’s (21-0), Lynnville-Sully (18-3) and South O’Brien (16-5).

The top-ranked teams in Class 3A and 4A stay the same. Cedar Rapids Xavier (14-5) won twice last week, including over Linn-Mar on a last-second jumper from guard Matt Mims, the South Dakota State signee.
