The water tower overlooking Kinnick Stadium has a new look.

Crews painted Iowa’s “Tigerhawk” logo on one side of the white water tower. Next will be “IOWA” in black letters, outlined in gold, on the opposite side.

Iowa announced during the football team’s spring game in April that the water tower would finally get the paint job many fans have asked for for years.

Last year, Iowa added the Tigerhawk logo to midfield with the installation of new turf, another request Iowa fans had constantly made.

“We got the reaction that I thought we might,” said Iowa Athletics Director Gary Barta, addressing the crowd at the spring game. “Since I arrived 12 years ago, that’s probably one of the most common questions I get, is ‘why can’t we put a Tigerhawk on that water tower?’”

Iowa hosts Northern Illinois in the season opener Sept. 1.
