Full Count wins ASA state title

The 14U Full Count Select softball captured the 2014 ASA state title last weekend, going 4-0 in the tournament.

The team, with players from Eastern Iowa beat the Pleasant Valley Explosion, Iowa Premier, Mount Pleasant and the I-Club.

The title earns Full Count Select a berth in the USA/ASA national tournament in San Diego.

The team hit .450 at state and scored 35 runs. Ashley Winterowd of Alburnett and Paula Carlson of Cedar Rapids Jefferson pitched two outstanding games each and Dana Riley of C.R. Washington, Haley McFarlane, of C.R. Prairie and Skylar Ryan of Iowa City West all hit home runs. Ryan had two homers.

Moser athletes win at Marshalltown

Thirty members of the Moser School of Dance and Gymnastic won titles at the USTA Power Tumbling meet in Marshalltown.

Mosers winners were Jacob Gasper, Katelyn Mangold, Jessie Glanz, Noa Marting, Luke Farmer, Whitley Harber, Emmy Troester, Kayla Kelly, Sophia Geistkemper, Claire Heinrichs, Grace Funke, Ericka Braden, Joshua Beatty, Amelia Eager, Kylie Henry, Lily Schmitz, Avery Sweeney, Ava Bockenstedt, Hannabelle Erickson, Tucker Erickson, Vera Loecke, Hanna Marting, Leah Ries, Alexa Ries, Cooper Ingles, Kayli Tegeler, Keely Recker, Logan Bevans, Micah Brase and Jason Recker.

Paige Kremer finished second, along with Reagan Brown, Megan Pierschbacher, Kacie Bayne, Madilyn Payne, Katie Boeding, Taylor Guthrie, Lainey Knipper, Ella Marting, Isabel Lutgen, Makayla Gasper, Kayla Felton, Addison Reetz, Breanna Vaske, Josie Briggs, Sophia Brown, Hannah Bovy, Kennedi Bevans, Journey Even, Anna Sweeney, Noah Weber, Caleb Weber, Jorgie Wendling and Madelyn Bockenstedt.

Third-place finishers were Alivia Sweeney, Kennedy Collins, Karsyn Nichol, Makenna Payne, Kennady Sanderson, Sophia Raubs, Kiley Wall, Mikya Britton, Madison Habel, Madison O’Hea, Annie Gulick, Cierra Weipert and Ellie Bockenstedt.
