Iowa’s women’s basketball team will play nine non-conference games at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, plus travel to Drake, North Dakota and the Cancun Challenge, it announced Monday.

The highlight is perennial power Notre Dame, ranked No. 1 in ESPN’s way-too-early preseason rankings, visiting as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge Nov. 30.

The Hawkeyes will once again play the other three in-state teams, hosting Northern Iowa (Dec. 4) and Iowa State (Dec. 7) and traveling to Drake (Dec. 18).

The season opener is set for Friday, Nov. 11 against Oral Roberts with a game against Hampton scheduled two days later. The Iowa men also play those dates, hosting Kennesaw State and Savannah State.

The women's first road trip takes place Wednesday, Nov. 16 at North Dakota.

The Hawkeyes will play UMass and either Montana or South Dakota State as part of the Hawkeye Challenge Nov. 19-20. A Thanksgiving week trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, follows with games against UCLA — an Elite Eight team last year — and James Madison Nov. 24-25.

Iowa also hosts Robert Morris on Dec. 9 before closing the non-conference slate with Kent State on Dec. 20.

Fans’ first chance to see the Hawkeyes is Nov. 6 in an exhibition against Division II Lewis (Ill.).

Iowa was 19-14 last year and lost in the first round of the WNIT.
