The last remaining Iowa Conference softball teams each saw their seasons end Sunday as Coe and Luther fell in NCAA Division III regional finals.
No. 23 St. Thomas defeated No. 25 Coe, 12-8, in Pella.
Coe had 12 hits, but couldn’t keep pace with the Tommies, who had 15. Allie O’Brien and Maddy Ryan each went 3-for-4 for the Kohawks. Haley Jones had a home run and three RBIs.
The Kohawks end the season 31-11.
No. 3 Luther was stunned by No. 25 St. Catherine in Decorah.
St. Catherine beat the Norse two times to advance to the super regional.
The Wildcats won the first game 2-1 and the second, 6-5.
Luther (41-5) scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to go ahead 5-4, but the Wildcats (36-12) got an RBI single from Amber Montero and a walk-off RBI single by Jenna George.
St. Thomas and St. Catherine will square off in a best-of-three super regional next weekend for a spot in the eight-team national tournament.
