PEORIA, Ill. — A 21-hit attack paced the Peoria Chiefs to a 15-3 win Wednesday afternoon over the Cedar Rapids Kernels in Midwest League baseball at Dozer Park.
The Chiefs (6-6) scored three times in the top of the first inning against Kernels starting and losing pitcher Eduardo Del Rosario (1-1). Cedar Rapids immediately tied it via a three-run second, but Peoria scored two times in the bottom of the inning, rolling to a 13-3 edge after five.
The Kernels got two hits and an RBI from shortstop Jermaine Palacios, who raised his batting average to .356. Catcher Caleb Hamilton took the mound in the bottom of the eighth and struck out two in a hitless inning.
Cedar Rapids returns home for a game Thursday night at 6:35 against Kane County.
