Cedar Rapids RoughRiders announce hiring of Doug Miller as club Co-President

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders announced Monday that Doug Miller has been named Co-President of the United States Hockey League club.

Miller comes to Cedar Rapids after previous USHL stints with the Waterloo Black Hawks and Des Moines Buccaneers. He was named USHL Executive of the Year in 2012 for his work in Waterloo.

“I am extremely excited to start this new chapter of my life with this incredible organization,” Miller said. “There are so many positive things happening at The Stable and in the community that I feel like I just hit the lottery.”

Miller replaces Mark Meyer in the Riders front office. Meyer has taken a job with Go Cedar Rapids after 13 years with the club.

Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson also is a club Co-President.

“Doug is an experienced executive with extensive knowledge in the operations, sales and marketing of a United States Hockey League (USHL) franchise,” RoughRiders majority owner Tony Sdao said. “We are fortunate to have him join our team. Working hand in hand on a daily basis with ... Mark Carlson gives the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders a management combination second to none in the USHL.”

“I look forward to working with Doug,” Carlson said. “He is an experienced, respected and successful USHL executive.”
