Iowa QB C.J. Beathard did start his Iowa career at around 170 pounds. He’s 215 now.

I asked how he thought 170 pounds was going to work for a Big Ten QB. “I knew I wasn’t going to stay at 170 pounds my whole four years,” he said. Touche, Mr. Beathard.

I took some long videos at Big Ten media days on Tuesday. It would’ve take 2 1/2 hours to download them on the Hyatt wireless. So, here they are, ready to go.

LB Josey Jewell on the physical initiation to the game, “They throw you around until you can’t take it anymore and you get a little pissed off and you get a little angry.”

Lots of head coach Kirk Ferentz here, a good half hour. Being a head coach at Big Ten media days is like being the best extemporaneous debater in the world. You better be ready for any topic.

Ferentz went from Pokemon Go (I like to crush that all together and use all caps, POKEMONGO, for an entirely different theme), a lifetime contract and Desmond King’s cowboy hat.
