Letter: Taxpayer money wasted on war on drugs

We have spent over $1 trillion on President Richard Nixon’s hypocritical war on drugs. We will spend another $1 trillion unless politicians become brave enough to say, “That is a gigantic waste of money.

Washington is running out of taxpayer money to waste. The wasted $1 trillion spent on the war on drugs could have paid the entire 2015 federal budget for food and agriculture, transportation, science, energy and environment, international affairs, housing and community, veterans’ benefits, Medicare and health, education and, get this, the entire military. All of it.

I encourage everyone to vote for brave politicians, so we can spend the next $1 trillion on something more useful than fighting the pathetic war on drugs.
