Letter: Scott Olson is a problem solver

I first met Scott Olson as a young architect working on a building project when I was a school administrator at Linn-Mar High School. I worked with Olson closely as he developed his plan, shared ideas and solved problems when they arose. He listened to the input of others and his willingness to make changes throughout the project made it a success. He was conscientious about staying within the budget realizing we were spending taxpayers’ dollars. Even at a young age, I could see the leadership that he provided, and trust that he built among others were going to serve him well in his career.

As a successful businessman and experienced council member, he has become deeply involved with the city by working with and serving various organizations including veterans and senior citizens. That commitment will continue because he has announced that he plans to retire from his active real estate practice if he is elected and focus on being mayor. He has no plans or aspirations for any other public office. That is the type of dedication, integrity and commitment I saw in him years ago.

As someone who has not been active in politics, I believe it is imperative for the citizens of Cedar Rapids to elect an individual who will listen to all voices and one who truly cares about the challenges facing the city. Please cast your vote for a proven leader.
