Letter: Resident urges city to ban fireworks
In response to the recent story on fireworks, I’d like to offer my two cents. My question is why? Why do we need to have fireworks in the city limits? What is the purpose? And what do we gain by allowing it? All this has caused is a big uproar and lots of angry people.
By restricting the law, it is not solving the issues that were addressed. You cannot reason with unreasonable people. You give them an inch they will take a mile. Restricting or not you will still have the same problems.
I had to sit in my home day after day with non-stop booms and cracks. They were going off all around me at all hours of the night. I didn’t have anywhere to get away from them. There is absolutely no reason for neighbors who are supposed to be law abiding good citizens (or so they think) to keep others up all day and all night. I have a toddler that couldn’t take naps, pets that were freaking out. The dogs nearby barking because they couldn’t get away from it either. I have a daughter who has loud sound issues. And even the rabbit in the backyard was going crazy. And yet, they keep saying that by restricting the law, all this will make it a peaceful world. Bull. Did they not hear the news of all accidents, including the baby that the mother had to throw from her lap when a fireworks landed in her lap?
This wasn’t a problem before and they have now made it a problem. Leave them to the professionals to make them special as they should be run by responsible licensed people in controlled areas. Ban them! Tracy Ingalls
