Letter: Know facts before forming an opinion
Congratulations to Fact Checker Erin Jordan for her excellent research on Sen. Joni Ernst (“Ernst’s convention claim about ISIS,” July 30).
Since so many Iowa voters make comments and decisions without having the facts, this review was needed. There are good Republicans, Democrats and independents in our state that voted for Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan, but in today’s culture most don’t know the facts at all.
Our country from day one has been influenced by greedy, wealthy and egocentric people who are not the least bit concerned about the working middle class or their needs. For all of us senior citizens over 60 years old, we are so glad to have lived in the years past that our children and grandchildren will never have the pleasure of experiencing. We all have great memories of the solidarity of our nation after Pearl Harbor and how the men and women worked together to give us a nation we could be proud of. Except for our standard of living, our political, legal and judicial system is waning toward the lowest in all industrialized countries.
