Letter: Humans make quite a mess, too

I was fishing Robbins Lake after the roundup of the Canada geese and indeed the geese make a mess.

I believe in always leaving nature better than one finds it. Here is what I found in picking up approximately 200 yards of shore line: 12 plastic water bottles, six pop containers, one very dirty diaper, four worm containers, eight plastic bags, six fast food containers, quite a few yards of fish lines, and one discarded broken fishing rod.

I thought, boy those geese are a mess, we need to get rid of them. But at least their droppings are organic and break down. Man is such a good steward of earth. Why can’t the geese be like us?
