Letter: Concerns about President Trump
In response to Gary Ellis’ advice that I grow up and accept the officeholder as my president, I’d like to refresh everyone’s memory to the last eight years (“It is time to accept Trump as president,” Feb. 24).
Mitch McConnell admitted publicly that he tried to block every policy and nominee put out by the Obama administration just because it came from him regardless of qualification or policy merit. Our own Sen. Chuck Grassley said there would be death panels coming for grandma if Obamacare was passed. I don’t see how someone cannot be a hypocrite and have voted for Donald Trump inless they stand up and say they are for racist policy, discrimination against our gay friends and family, objectifying women and isolating ourselves in the global stage from even our closest friends.
I fear that Trump is out to enrich himself and his billionaire friends, or worse — that he is a traitor to our country beholden to another government. My only hope is when the other branches of our government finally stand up and remove him from office we have a free and independent country to protect. He is an embarassment to the office and it’s time for all to grow up and open our eyes to the damage that is being done.
