Letter: Beat the heat in Marion, too

The Gazette’s July 22 article “7 ways to beat the heat” was relevant and provided great ideas for local residents, but there are notable options for folks in the Marion area, too.

The Marion Public Library is the only official cooling center in Marion and we offer free programming (including summer reading activities and summer movies for all ages), a wealth of reading/viewing/listening materials and access to technology. All are welcome to visit and linger in our reading spaces, study rooms or on a shady bench on the library’s grounds. The comforts of our library aren’t a secret, in fact, an average of 1,000 people walk through our doors every day.

Outside of the library, Marion has ice cream that can’t be beat at The Freeze and Parlor City. Marion has two museums where you can cool down and unique Uptown shops. Stop at Wit’s End for quirky cold beverages in a relaxing cool setting. Need to beat the heat? Visit Marion; we’re right next door. Come and meet us today!
