Working to enhance education

I am Eileen Schmidt, and I am seeking the at-large position on the board of directors for the Clear Creek Amana Community School District.

My life is my husband of 18 years, Jim Schmidt, and our two sons, who are in middle school. In 1998, my husband and I established our residence in Tiffin. My involvement started with the Clear Creek Amana School District in 2004, attending my first school board meeting.

I have had the honor to serve two terms (8 years) on the Clear Creek Amana school board, starting in 2009. The experience I have obtained during these eight years includes dealing with a growing district and understanding the education and financial structure within the public school system. I also have established relationships with our community, schools and city administrators along with children educated within the district. I educate myself, research and acquire facts before making decisions that impact the children and community of the Clear Creek Amana School District.

The reason for seeking re-election for my third term is, first and foremost, looking out for our students and the education they receive. As the district continues to grow, I will continue to be the watchdog for the community, ensuring that students get the best education for tax dollars spent. I will continue to research, ask questions and document as problems are brought to my attention.

The item I would like to accomplish if re-elected is the continuing growth of improving the delivery of education to our students. I want to ensure that the utilization of resources for the students’ knowledge and interest is achieved. I would like to continue the growth of communication in working together with all members associated with the district for the best interest of the children educated within the walls of our schools.
