Term limits to encourage honest, sincere politicians
What is wrong with modern politicians in America? Back when our Constitution was written, our politicians were mostly wise and honest. Now, looking at our government, it seems mostly corrupt with money grabbing thievery. Our Senators and Representatives seem blinded with money and power, so much so that they would destroy everything our forefathers worked until their deaths to achieve.
One such example of this is Donald Trump. This “politician” is running for president of our country. This man has put four of his companies into Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Trump, who currently is in the lead for the Republicans nominating choice for president, is one of many politicians that seem only to be in it for their own personal gain.
Now some may argue that our founding fathers were not perfect, for reasons such as slavery, and that even they weren’t perfectly honest, either. Well I believe that maybe it’s time for a change then. Maybe we could look for politicians that are honest and in it for the people. If we could have more people like this, our economy would most likely skyrocket and it would hopefully bring down our homeless population. The average yearly salary for a member of Congress is $174,000.
Some ideas to possibly help would be to put a limit on the numbers of terms representatives and senators can serve. If presidents have a maximum number of terms, why shouldn’t others have the same conditions? While it may not be as few terms as two like a president, putting a cap on the amount would likely get more people elected for more changes.
