Two firefighters suffer minor injuries in Center Point fire

Residents escape without injury in fire causing 'major damages' to home

CENTER POINT — Two firefighters suffered minor injuries fighting a fire in Center Point Sunday evening.

According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, Center Point Ambulance and the Center Point, Walker and Urbana fire departments were called to a structure fire at 911 Franklin St. around 7:34 p.m. Authorities said in a news release that a fire started in an outlet of the home and spread up the walls of the structure, causing “major damages” to the residence.

The residents of the home got out safely, but two firefighters suffered minor injuries from a fire flashover while fighting the fire inside the home. Both firefighters were treated at the scene and released, authorities said.
