CEDAR RAPIDS — Two men face attempted murder charges after a shooting incident Thursday evening.

According to a Cedar Rapids police news release, officers were dispatched at 6:15 p.m. for a report of a shooting. Officers found a 21-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his arm. The man told police the shooting happened at 2925 Johnson Ave. NW.

Criminal complaints filed by the Linn County Attorney’s Office indicate the man said the suspects — Anthony T. Keith and Derek K. Morrison, both 19 and of Cedar Rapids — arranged to meet with him on Johnson Avenue. Authorities said when the man arrived at the agreed upon location, the suspects approached him in his vehicle and robbed him.

Authorities said Morrison hit the man in the face with a gun. When the man tried to drive away, Morrison shot at him and hit him in the arm, police said.

Keith later told investigators he arranged to meet with the man to buy marijuana and Morrison tried to rob the man, authorities said. Keith also told police Morrison got rid of the gun after the shooting.

Both men face charges of attempted murder and first-degree robbery. Morrison faces additional charges of intimidation with a firearm, reckless use of a firearm and carrying weapons. Keith faces an additional charge of conspiracy to commit a felony.
