Strong-arm robbery at Capitol Street ramp triggers UI Hawk Alert

UPDATE: The University of Iowa's emergency information site indicated Thursday that the campus is operating normally, and there are no known current threats.

The University of Iowa has issued a Hawk Alert after the report of a strong-arm robbery that took place on campus.

The alert, issued to students by the UI Police Department at 7:44 p.m., stated that there had been a “Strong arm robbery at Capitol St Ramp, suspect 16-17 year old black male in orange shirt and jeans last seen east on Ped Mall”

The alert also states that “Public Safety and university leadership are assessing the situation” and more information will be provided at the UI’s Hawk Alert site.
