Sex offender found with child pornography

IOWA CITY — A sex offender violated the conditions of his parole after child pornography was discoved on his computer, authorities said.

According to an Iowa Department of Corrections notice of parole violation, a parole officer was notified by a computer monitoring software company that 30-year-old Joshua F. Stevens — a parolee on a special sentence parole for sexual exploitation of a minor — could be engaging in criminal activity on his computer.

Authorities said a parole officer reviewed Stevens’ computer and found images of children “in various stages of dress.” Some images depicted nude children, authorities said.

Stevens was arrested for parole violation. It is unclear what other charges he could face in relation to the images found on his computer. He is in custody in the Johnson County Jail.
