IOWA CITY — An Iowa City man faces felony charges for unlawful possession of firearms — one of which police said was stolen.

According to Iowa City Police complaints, officers at 9:30 a.m. Thursday executed a narcotics-related search warrant of the Davis Street residence belonging to Maurice A. Turner, 36.

Turner admitted to possession of marijuana and “some guns,” according to police.

During the search, police found two loaded handguns, one of which was confirmed as stolen out of Wisconsin, police said.

Turner has previous felony charges for unlawful possession of a firearm and delivery of a controlled substance in Illinois, police said.

Turner was booked Thursday in the Johnson County Jail. He faces felony charges for trafficking stolen weapons and two counts of possession of a firearm as a felon. He also has been charged with an aggravated misdemeanor for possession of a controlled substance.
