A two-vehicle crash at Highway 13 and Mount Vernon Road sent one man to the hospital Saturday morning.

Shortly after 8 a.m., 68-year-old Walter Poehler of Hopkinton, Iowa was driving a full-size truck with a trailer, heading northbound on Highway 13, according to a release from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office. He struck another full-size truck, driven by 63-year-old Patrick Cook of Holy Cross, that was stopped for a red light, according to the release.

Poehler was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries, according to the release. Cook was not injured.

Poehler was issued a citation for failure to stop in an assured clear distance.

In addition to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Linn County Rescue 57, the Marion Police Department, West Bertram Fire Department and Area Ambulance Service responded.
